Ozil Reveals How Mourinho’s Phone Call Influenced His Arsenal Move

Mesut Ozil has revealed Jose Mourinho was one of the reasons why he initially snubbed Arsenal to join Real Madrid.
Ozil eventually joined the Gunners for a record breaking transfer fee of around £42.5 million in 2013 season but had earlier snubbed the North London club for a move to Santiago Bernabeu in 2010 and has now revealed a phone call from Jose Mourinho convinced him to pick Real Madrid over Arsenal.
He said: ‘Everything is so different. If you play for Real Madrid and you draw against Barcelona, it’s the worst. You have to win every game,’
‘If you win 10 games in a row and then draw at home against a smaller team… there’s immediate pressure. My idol was always Zidane and he played for such a big club like Real Madrid.’
‘They wanted me, especially Mourinho. I spoke with him on the phone and he told me his ideas and what he thought about me as a player.’

Reports suggest Jose Mourinho is trying to lure the German star to Manchester United as he stalls on renewing his contract with Arsenal.
